Why You Should Join The BLPA
Updated: January 2, 2023 by Bill Burniece
Most of us like being a part of a community that shares a common interest.
The BLPA, or Beer League Players Association, is a community of like-minded individuals who happen to like beer league hockey.
Who Is The BLPA?
Beer League Players Association, or BLPA, has an overview motto:
“The BLPA is home of adult “athletes”. Our mission is to connect the world with beer league sports and make it a better place by playing them.”
The BLPA hosts beer league hockey tournaments, events, and podcasts.
This movement continues to grow rapidly as word gets out and the number of tournaments and events expands.
They have a FaceBook Group located here:
Once you join the BLPA FaceBook Group, you’ll be able to get your daily dose of hockey humor, news, banter, and typical beer league hockey stories and shenanigans.
There’s a good chance you’ll have some hockey-playing friends already in the group. When I joined, I already knew or played with over 30 people who were already members.
As I write this, there are more than 20,000 members in the group.
The BLPA also has some cool events listed here:

The BLPA hosts some really cool beer league hockey tournaments all over North America and the world.
“BLPA events were created to provide the adult “athlete” with a different kind of experience. Hockey isn’t the only beer league sport. A lot of players love spending their weekends on the ball field or swinging the sticks at a local golf course.”
“Join us as we create an experience for all sports together that you’ll never forget.”
The Draft Experience
And when I say delivers, it really does.
The Draft Experience allows beer leaguers to actually feel important for an entire weekend.
“DEX promises to be a hockey tournament weekend that players won’t forget… (or maybe even remember).”
The DEX experience includes playing hockey, making new friends, drinking a lot of beer, having laughs & a great time with other adult hockey-loving “athletes” from all over North America and the world.
The Draft Experience welcomes players of all skill levels since they have a true draft system.
The draft format ensures teams are evenly balanced so no team is stacked with ringers.
Everyone just gets to focus on having a good time and playing to the best of their own ability and comfort zone.
When the hockey tournament weekend is over, you’ll leave with a bunch of new friends and a super sweet beer-league jersey that is yours to keep.
By the way, the jerseys are dope AF.
So far thousands of beer leaguers have participated in the Draft Experience with the Beer League Players Association in dozens of cities.
The BLPA Bigshow features “Mr. Beer League brings you the only show for the adult “athlete”. Created as a place where people who love the game (whichever game that is) can have a voice.
A place where you can gather to discuss what’s important to you, be entertained, be educated, and most importantly to participate in the discussions.”
Wrapping It Up
BLPA and their DEX tournaments offer beer leagues everywhere a chance to meet new people, drink a fuckton of beer, and compete with other folks from all over the world.
It’s a blast.
And even if you’re not a fan of FaceBook, the BLPA community is a great place to get some cheap laughs and find places near you to play in hockey leagues, drop-ins, and tournaments.
